All Pokémon GO Shiny Pokémon and tips for capturing them

Pokémon Shiny first appeared in Silver and Gold versions. Today they are a success, even though they are super rare! In Pokémon GO they are even more difficult to find, although there are some ways you can get at least one for your collection. For those who don't know or don't remember, a Pokémon Shiny is a different color version compared to its "original". He has the same powers and abilities. What really changes is how it looks, in addition to having a shine when it appears in play. In this article we will explain how to capture one!

Participate in special Pokémon Shiny events

The first event dedicated to a Shiny was the Gyarados Vermelho
Nintendo often creates special events on Pokémon GO. They may be related to legendary monsters, such as the Mewtwo event. And it is at such events that Pokémon Shiny are presented. The first one took place in March 2017, when we were introduced to the golden Magikarp and the Gyarados Vermelho. It was the World Water Day event, in addition to being a clear reference to Pokémon Silver, Gold and Crystal. That's because this Gyarados was the first Shiny to appear in the history of the franchise's games. In August 2017 the Pokémon GO Park event added the Shiny versions of Pikachu and Raichu. Since then, other events have been created to present the arrival of new special versions of some monsters. We brought you some of the most important events and what Pokémon Shiny they added. Each new game event that comes out we’ll add in this section. Check out!

Capturing Pokémon Shiny outside events

Niantic doesn't always do events or Raid Bosses to add Pokémon Shiny to the game. Sometimes they just add monsters, and eventually some trainers end up finding them around. So in addition to participating in special events, you can randomly encounter a Shiny while playing Pokémon GO. They will appear as wild monsters, but they can also appear in Raids. Another possibility is to hatch eggs, especially those of 7 kilometers. The chances are small, we know, but with some persistence it is possible to get a Shiny for your collection.

Tips and facts about capturing Shinies in Pokémon GO

After conducting a search, it was discovered that you have 1 in 450 chance of finding a Shiny. In other words: it is completely random to find one, even within special events. Still, there are some steps you can take to increase your odds!
  • The first is to go into capture mode with any Pokémon you see. That's because you will only know if he is Shiny when trying to capture him. On the map, even if he is Shiny, he will appear as an ordinary little monster
  • In this sense, it is worth using Lure and Incense whenever possible, as you never know what might appear near you
  • Every captured Shiny is seen as a favorite. So if you try to download it, you will be asked if you really want to do it. Just to avoid accidents
  • When playing side by side with a friend they can try to capture the same Pokémon, but only one of them is Shiny
  • If you find a Pokémon Shiny that becomes a Ditto, don't be happy: this Ditto will not be Shiny
  • At Pokédex these Pokémon have different information than their original versions
